How Long Does It Take to Get Your CDL License?

You have decided to get your CDL License but don’t know where to begin. It’s a big decision to make, and you want to be sure you’re making the best choice for your future. No problem, Super K Express can give you some tips!

It generally takes most people around four weeks to get their CDL license, but some take 60-90 days. This includes getting your permit, taking truck driving classes, and passing the final exam. Of course, everyone is different, and some people may be able to get their license in a shorter amount of time, while others may need a bit more time. The best way to know for sure is to speak with a truck driving school near you. They will be able to give you a more accurate estimate based on your individual situation.

Requirements

You will need to meet a few requirements to get your CDL license. First, you must be at least 21 years old. Second, you will need to have a clean driving record. And finally, you will need to pass a DOT physical. If you meet all of these requirements, then you are eligible to get your CDL license!

Getting Your CDL Permit

The first step in getting your CDL license is obtaining your permit. To do this, you must pass a written exam covering trucking regulations and safety procedures. The permit allows you to practice driving with a licensed truck driver.

Taking Truck Driving Classes

Once you have your permit, the next step is to take truck driving classes. These classes will teach you how to operate a truck safely and efficiently. Most truck driving schools offer both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Classroom instruction typically lasts around 30 hours, while behind-the-wheel instruction is usually approximately 20 hours.

Passing the Final Exam

After completing truck driving classes, you must pass a final exam to get your CDL license. The final exam consists of a written test and a skills test. The skills test is an on-road test that evaluates your ability to operate a truck safely.

Now that you know how long it takes to get your CDL license, you can begin getting your permit and taking truck driving classes. Before you know it, you’ll be on the road to a new career in trucking! Thanks for reading, and we hope this was helpful. Drive safe!
