How Many Miles Do Truck Drivers Drive a Day?

Professional truck drivers spend long hours on the road, navigating everything from busy highways to remote routes to ensure freight arrives on time. One common question in the industry is: how many miles do truck drivers drive a day?

The answer depends on several factors, including federal regulations, route conditions, and scheduling. However, for many drivers working with experienced logistics providers, the average tends to fall within a consistent and safe daily range. At our company, Super K Express, where efficiency and compliance go hand in hand, routes are carefully planned to strike a balance between mileage, driver safety, and delivery reliability. What does this mean for you as a customer? It means you can count on predictable delivery timelines, fewer delays, and peace of mind knowing your freight is being handled by professionals who prioritize both safety and punctuality. Every mile we drive is part of a bigger plan to keep your business running smoothly and your shipments arriving on time — every time.

How Long Can a Truck Driver Drive in a Day?

Federal law sets clear guidelines for how long a truck driver can drive in a day, and our team at Super K follows them to the letter.

According to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations:

  • A driver can be on the road for up to 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty.
  • The 14-hour window rule means those 11 hours must be used within a 14-hour period.
  • Drivers must take a 30-minute break after driving for 8 hours.
  • Weekly limits apply too—no more than 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days, depending on the schedule.

These rules are in place for one reason: safety. The well-being of our drivers and the safe arrival of your freight depend on careful planning and rest cycles. At Super K Express, we build all our routes and assignments with these rules at the foundation.

The Role of Logistics

It’s not just about the miles. It’s about the planning behind them. Our trucking logistics are powered by real-time tracking, efficient dispatching, and careful route planning. That means fewer delays, more predictable delivery windows, and optimized routes for our drivers.

By handling the backend logistics, we allow our drivers to focus on what they do best: driving with care and delivering on time.
